Al-Falah University has officially distanced itself from two doctors who have been detained in relation to an investigation into a terror module operating in Faridabad. In a recent statement, the university clarified that it has no affiliations with the detained individuals beyond their employment at the institution and condemned the association with the case as baseless and defamatory.
Authorities uncovered a significant cache of explosives, including 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate, in connection with Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, a Kashmiri doctor employed at Al-Falah Medical College. This raid revealed dangerous materials stored in rented accommodations associated with him. Additionally, a Krinkov assault rifle was discovered in a vehicle that belonged to Dr. Shaheen, another doctor under investigation. That vehicle was reportedly used by Dr. Muzammil, and it contained the rifle along with live ammunition.
Another doctor, Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather, was previously arrested for allegedly advocating for a banned group known as Jaish-e-Mohammed in Srinagar. His interrogation led investigators to conduct the raid in Faridabad. Officials have characterized the investigation as exposing a 'white-collar terror ecosystem' consisting of professionals and students connected to international handlers from Pakistan and other regions.
Investigators have also identified Mohammad Umar, another medical professional from Al-Falah Medical College, as part of this network, linking him to a plot for a terrorist attack on the Red Fort. Raids conducted by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) included searches of Dr. Shaheen’s home, where official documents related to her employment were seized.
Reports suggest that Dr. Shaheen is under scrutiny for her alleged role in establishing a women's division of Jaish-e-Mohammed in India and for her connections with handlers across the border. This has raised concerns about radicalization amongst young professionals in various fields.
Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Bhupinder Kaur Anand expressed her shock and sadness over the situation, emphasizing the university's commitment to educational integrity and safety. She reiterated that the institution has no involvement with the illegal activities associated with the detained doctors and confirmed that the university operates in compliance with all safety and ethical standards.
Al-Falah University has managed various educational institutions since 1997 and has been recognized as a university since 2014 by regulatory authorities. The university has been offering medical degrees, including an MBBS program, since 2019, with graduates serving in reputable hospitals across India and abroad.
The institution condemned the circulating false narratives as attempts to tarnish its reputation and urged individuals and organizations to verify facts through official sources before publicizing allegations. Al-Falah University reaffirmed its commitment to national security and has pledged full cooperation with investigative authorities to ensure a fair resolution in this serious matter, promising to maintain a peaceful academic environment for its students.
