The box office performance of 'Thamma' and 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' is diminishing as both films hit low collections on their 22nd day, earning Rs 15 lakh each. 'Thamma' is projected to finish at Rs 130 crore while 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' will likely conclude at Rs 75 crore. Festive expectations fell short this Diwali, with combined earnings around Rs 200 crore nett, suggesting a saturation point for both films. Overall, 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' performed better than expected, but both films struggled amidst lower audience turnout during the holiday period.

As the box office performance of Indian films continues to fluctuate, both 'Thamma' and 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' are nearing the conclusion of their theatrical runs. On the 22nd day of their release, both films recorded an all-time low, each earning only Rs 15 lakh. Consequently, 'Thamma' is projected to finish its run at around Rs 130 crore, while 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' is expected to close at Rs 75 crore.

Box office trends indicate that 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat,' which features Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, has begun to experience a slowdown. After reaching a second-week total of Rs 16.3 crore, the film saw its numbers fall drastically, especially on Tuesdays, where it could only garner Rs 15 lakh on the 22nd day. The film initially showed promise with a dip in earnings just after a holiday weekend, collecting Rs 70 lakhs on the 18th day and achieving an unexpected growth of Rs 1.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.5 crore on Sunday. However, the subsequent decline began with only Rs 50 lakhs on Monday, cushioning the Tuesday earnings further to Rs 15 lakhs.

On the other hand, 'Thamma,' featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, displayed a similar trend. The film earned Rs 80 lakhs on its 21st day, followed by a marginal increase over the weekend, reaching Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 1.65 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively. However, similar to 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat,' 'Thamma' experienced a drop to only Rs 35 lakhs on Monday, and Rs 15 lakhs on the Tuesday, bringing its total to Rs 131.6 crore.

The low earnings for both films amid the festive season suggest they may have hit a saturation point. Compounded by recent events, including a car blast near the Red Fort, which may have placed a damper on cinema attendance, the overall collection at the box office holds a less-than-favorable position compared to previous festive releases.

Interestingly, the combined Diwali total from both films, approximating Rs 200 crore nett, appears underwhelming given the expectations from larger holiday releases. Despite 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' exceeding its initial projections, it proved unable to shoulder the burden typically expected of holiday blockbusters. However, it remains noteworthy that this Diwali performance has been better compared to other recent festive periods, demonstrating pockets of success in the industry, especially from unexpected titles like 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat.'

As both films inch toward the end of their runs, their performances may serve as significant indicators for future releases, reflecting industry trends and audience preferences in a continually evolving cinematic landscape.
