Hardik Pandya, India's prominent all-rounder, is poised to make his much-anticipated return to competitive cricket by playing for Baroda in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy later this month. After recovering from a left quadriceps injury sustained during the Asia Cup, Pandya has been training intensively at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. His return not only signifies a personal comeback but also serves as a crucial asset for the Indian team as they prepare for the ODI series against South Africa, commencing November 30. The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a domestic T20 tournament, is set to kick off on November 26, with Baroda scheduled to play their matches in Hyderabad. Sources indicate that Pandya is nearing match readiness; if successful, he could make his competitive return as early as Baroda's first game in the tournament. In a worst-case scenario, he will participate by the team’s second fixture. Additionally, there is no planned break for him post-tournament, as he will head directly to Hyderabad upon receiving the Return to Play (RTP) clearance from the CoE. The ODI series with South Africa will include matches in Ranchi, Raipur, and Visakhapatnam on November 30, December 3, and December 6, respectively, after which the focus will shift to a series of T20Is beginning on December 9 in Cuttack. Pandya’s dedication to rigorous training in Bengaluru over the past few weeks highlights his commitment to regaining fitness and contributing to the Indian squad’s efforts on the international stage.
