Pisal expressed his confidence in reaching a deal to bring IPL action back to Pune, citing the need for a suitable venue due to the recent issues in Karnataka.
The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune, which boasts a capacity exceeding 42,000, is larger than Chinnaswamy Stadium and could effectively accommodate a significant number of fans. Discussions are currently in progress, focusing on finalizing a few remaining details of the agreement. Pisal indicated that while the negotiations are on the table, confirmation regarding the arrangement is still pending.
A decisive outcome regarding Pune’s involvement as the IPL host is likely to be announced after the IPL auction scheduled for late December. Pisal pointed out that the logistical advantages and accommodations available in Pune make it the “most ideal” alternative city for hosting matches, second only to Bangalore.
